The Qoob BIOS itself is very straight foreward and stable as it has never crashed on me. To upgrade to the latest BIOS run the Qoob Flashing program and select connect to Qoob. After it connects it will display a list of all of the BIOS banks and their contents. To write the new BIOS pick write then find the GCB file to write. Never power on your Cube while writing and if the USB connector is pluged in. To upgrade via your network stream the ELF file to the Qoob or make a DVD readable by the Qoob and load the ELF from there.

When you first turn on your system you are greated by the defualt Qoob background and two options. If no media is intserted it will say just that, but this gives you a good idea that your BIOS is functioning. As you can see the two options are to access the Main Menu by pressing 'B' or to run a Disc Media Check by holding 'A' on the gamepad.

To boot either a backup or an original disc simply insert the media and turn your GameCube on and it will auto-mattically detect which type of media you have inserted and boot it without the need to swap. If you're interested in seeing it boot I have taken a small video which can be viewed here.

To run the Disc Media Check simply hold 'A' on bootup and it will run the check. As you can see I tried to run the check using an original disc and it failed.

While booting if you press 'B' the Main Menu will come up which will allow you to boot the media in the drive, select applications that are flashed in your BIOS banks to run, configure your Qoob Pro BIOS and access your cheat database.

If you select your applications it will give you a list of the programs you have flashed to your empty BIOS banks using the flashing program. Simply pick which program you would like to run and press 'A'. While in any submenu like this one you can press 'B' to return to the previous menu.

After accessing the configuration menu you can change certain options.

Streamfix - If you were one of the unforunate people who used one of the many faulty audio fixing applications to try to correct your audio streaming games Qoob has been kind enough to let you disable the built in audio fix so you can listen to the games you tried to fix and hear all the nice sound distortions.

DRE Workaround - Will let you toggle between different DRE fixes

Disc Swap Support - Toggle disc swapping support

IGR - In game reset toggle

Video Mode: Game - Try to force this video mode in the game

Video Mode: Qoob - Select a video mode for your Qoob BIOS

Hide Texts - Don't show text messages from BIOS

When selecting the cheats menu option for the first time you will be prompted to insert an original Action Replay (AR) disc to grab the cheat engine from. After it downloads the engine into a blank BIOS slot you will no longer need the AR disc. Now you need to install some cheat files. Mario's cheat code compilation can be found with the Qoob Pro BIOS v1.3 release and can be flashed using the official Qoob Flashing Software.

Once you have your cheats flashed you can select which game to use, then select which cheat to use. You can easily navigate the list by using the shoulder keys on the GamePad to skip pages. An enabled cheat will have an asteric next to it.

If you would like to change the background of your Qoob BIOS simply flash a m1v file to an emtpy BIOS bank. Details on creating your own m1v file can be found in the Qoob Pro BIOS v1.3 release.

One of the nice features of the Qoob Pro BIOS is the ability to browse ISO-9660 Joliet DVD-ROM's which you can fill with GameCube applications (DOL, ELF, GCB, VGC). Simply use our DVD creation guide and then power on the Cube and the BIOS will give you a menu of the applications you have burnt. Simply pick an application to execute and you're good to go!

The Qoob Pro BIOS also features the ability to boot Multi-Image Discs created with LooneyCube's utility. Simply boot the system and the BIOS will give you a menu of what games you can execute.

The Qoob Pro BIOS can play MP3 files by flashing the MP3 Player application that came with the Qoob Pro v1.2 BIOS into and empty BIOS bank. Simply create a DVD with MP3 files on it and then boot the MP3 Player which will give you a selection menu of which songs you have burnt. Press 'A' on a song to play it.

To do an In Game Reset (IGR) press and hold L+R+START and your game might reset back to the BIOS. This really depends on the game so it might not work all the time.

You can also stream applications/games to the Qoob BIOS and can also backup images from it. Please see our Streaming and our Backup guides to see how this can be done.
